Cary Grant is the screen's supreme man-on-the-run in his fourth and final teaming with Master of Suspense Alfred Hitchcock. He plays a Manhattan adman plunged into a realm of spy (James Mason) and counterspy (Eva Marie Saint) and variously abducted, framed for murder, chased, and in a signature set-piece, crop-dusted. He also hangs for dear life from the facial features of Mount Rushmore's Presidents. 4K: Commentary by Ernest Lehman North by Northwest: Cinematography, Score, and the Art of the Edit Destination Hitchcock: The Making of North by Northwest The Master's Touch: Hitchcock's Signature Style North by Northwest: One for the Ages A Guided Tour with Alfred Hitchcock

One of the top five screwball comedies of the 1930s, this helped to cement a genre that waxed golden until the end of the Second World War. Director Leo McCarey won an Oscar for Best Director for this 1937 romantic comedy--one of the most successful films of his career. Irene Dunne and Cary Grant are a squabbling couple who separates because of supposed infidelities on both sides. They part, but cannot really keep away from each other. Grant finds himself hooked up with a socialite, Dunne becomes engaged to a millionaire hick played by the hapless Ralph Bellamy (as if he ever stood a chance as the "other" man!). When not dating others or baiting one another in a verbal war, Grant and Dunne wage a custody battle over their pathetic pooch. Gags, double entendre, witty remarks, snide comments, and fast-paced dialogue helped this to garner six Academy Award nominations. The Awful Truth was awfully good to Dunne and Grant, as both were breaking out of much more serious moulds and this secured their positions. --Rochelle O'Gorman

One of Alfred Hitchcock's classics, this romantic thriller features a cast to die for: Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant and Claude Rains. Bergman plays the daughter of a disgraced father who is recruited by American agents to infiltrate a post-World War II spy ring in Brazil. Her control agent is Grant, who treats her with disdain while developing a deep romantic bond with her. Her assignment: to marry the suspected head of the ring (Rains) and get the goods on everyone involved. Danger, deceit, betrayal--and, yes, romance--all come together in a nearly perfect blend as the film builds to a terrific (and surprising) climax. Grant and Bergman rarely have been better. --Marshall Fine

Eureka Entertainment to release OPERATION PETTICOAT, Blake Edward's witty wartime comedy romance starring Cary Grant and Tony Curtis, for the first time on Blu-ray in the UK in a Dual Format edition as part of the Eureka Classics range from 2 December 2019. Cary Grant (North by Northwest) and Tony Curtis (Some Like It Hot), two of cinema's most celebrated stars, provide the comedic pivot point in director Blake Edwards' (The Pink Panther) Academy Award-nominated Operation Petticoat. It's hijinks on the high seas when revered Lt. Cmdr. Matt T. Sherman (Grant) and the somewhat unethical Lt. JG Nicholas Holden (Curtis) team to upright the USS Sea Tiger, a flagging submarine that's seen better days. With some dubious manoeuvring (and scavenged parts), things begin to look up for the old war horse until the ship and its crew are forced out to sea by a surprise attack. Limping along and barely held together with its borrowed parts, the Sea Tiger gets some unexpected company when five stranded Army nurses are brought aboard. The game gals will prove that necessity is indeed the mother of invention, initiating a series of renovations to make life aboard the Sea Tiger liveable with the exception of the sub's accidental pink paint job. Not only is the ship now an eyesore, but a target for both the Japanese and American forces! Also starring Joan O'Brien (The Alamo), Dina Merrill (The Sundowners), Gene Evans (Hell and High Water) and Dick Sargent (TV's Bewitched), Eureka Classics presents one of Blake Edwards most beloved comedies on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK in a Dual Format (Blu-ray & DVD) edition. Features: Presented in 1080p from a new high-definition digital restoration Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing Uncompressed LPCM audio A collector's booklet featuring a new essay by Richard Combs
